Moncton Blossoms and Atlantic Cancer Research Institute Present “Blossom of Hope” for World Cancer Day

5

Moncton Blossoms is teaming up with the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute in the fight against cancer.

Business owners Darren Terris and Jennifer Gouchie have created a special limited edition fruit arrangement to be launched on World Cancer Day Feb. 4. Fifty per cent of the sales from “The Blossom of Hope’’ for the month of February will be donated to ACRI.

The inspiration for “The Blossom of Hope’’ came from Jennifer’s son Brandon who passed away from a malignant brain tumour in October, 2012 at the age of only 18.

“Hope is what got me through Brandon’s lengthy illness and continues to get me through each day now that he’s gone,” says Jennifer.  “Without hope we have nothing and I’m hoping that this very special blossom will not only raise money for cancer research but in some small way help brighten the day of those facing personal struggles of their own.”

“One out of three people in Atlantic Canada will be affected by cancer,” said Sophie Thériault, Director of Business Development and Communications at ACRI. “This collaboration is near and dear to our hearts because it represents people from our community sharing their story and wanting to make a difference. We are so proud to be a part of this project.”

Made-up of an abundance of plain and dipped strawberries along with pineapple daisies; the focal point of "The Blossom of Hope" is a white chocolate dipped pineapple Dove which is the universal symbol of hope. A cancer ribbon pineapple cutout, dipped or plain, can also be added upon request.
